Why Booking Your Senior Session Early Is Best

Class of 2026, listen up: Senior year is here which means it’s finally your time to step into the spotlight! This year is going to be a whirlwind of firsts and lasts, and full of memories you’re going to cherish forever. And one of those memories will be your Senior photo session! Kamryn Nichols Photography is all about creating memorable experiences for Seniors who want to stand out and make their Senior year truly epic! But that all starts with booking your session. School starts in just a few weeks and your schedule is going to start filling up fast! Read on to discover why early planning is key, when to reserve your spot, and how the KNP Senior Photography Experience here in Louisville ensures you get images that look and feel 100% YOU!

1. Secure Your Dream Date & Location

Louisville is full of some incredible Senior portrait locations—Cherokee Park, The Parklands of Floyds Fork, Downtown Louisville, St. James Court, and so many others. By booking early, you’ll:

  • Have more date options to choose from as well as first pick at the prime golden hour time slots.
  • Meet the yearbook and other Senior photo deadlines.
  • Have photos to post for #SeniorSunday all year long.
  • Get ahead of the game and cross it off your Senior Year To-Do List.

Not only that, but as a special bonus for the Class of 2026: Any Senior who books with KNP will receive exclusive invitations to participate in additional complimentary Senior styled photoshoots throughout the year! The earlier you book, the more shoots you’ll be able to attend! For example: If you schedule your Senior photos for October and book the session by July, you’ll be able to attend the KNP Senior End of Summer styled Senior session and any others that take place before and after your session date!

3. Avoid Senior-Year Schedule Conflicts

Between football games, banquets, competitions, college visits, prom, and AP exams, and all the other Senior year to-dos, your calendar is going to be packed. When you reserve your date early, you gain:

  • Buffer days for weather reschedules—no stress if it rains or other bad weather pops up.
  • Backup shoot dates on my calendar to switch into. Competition day is scheduled on your shoot day or you get sick? No worries.
  • Peace of mind knowing your session is locked in. No stress when it comes time to meet all of those photo deadlines!

After all, this is YOUR year, and you deserve a photo experience that’s seamless from start to finish.

4. Stress-Free Session Planning & Styling

The magic of a session is in the details. With an early booking, you’ll have time to:

  1. Choose your outfits! Whether you’re picking through your closet, going on a shopping spree, or ordering some different options, you’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to plan out and try on your outfits. You might think you know what you’re going to wear, but it won’t be until you try everything on that you’ll know if it really works or not!
  2. Shop & order without last-minute panic. Trust me, you won’t be doing yourself any favors if you wait until the weekend before your shoot to run to the mall or order outfits off Amazon. You need time to try everything on, exchange items, or run them to an alterations shop. You never know when things you order might come in late, the wrong size, color, or style!
  3. Figure out what you want. Booking early means you can take a deep dive into Pinterest or social media to figure out what kind of vibe you want for your Senior photos. Everything gets tailored around you and what you want! You’ll need to decide on locations, outfits, accessories, props, hair and makeup looks, your nails, etc!

I’ll send you all my Senior Guides which are full of local and online boutiques and shops, hair & makeup tips, and outfit-planning / styling help, location ideas, session prep, and so much more! But don’t worry you won’t be on your own to make all of these decisions! All of my Seniors get an in-person or video call planning session before their shoot where I will answer any and all questions you or your parents have, and give you recommendations / advice on anything you might need help with! All of my Seniors also have unlimited access to me prior to their session for help with anything!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How far in advance should I book?
Aim for 2-3 months before your desired season, but I always say the earlier the better, especially if you have a specific date or time frame in mind. If you need products like graduation cards, add an extra month for editing and delivery.

Q: Can I reschedule?
Of course! Whether it’s bad weather, sick day, or something else, I will work with you to find a new date that works for everyone!

Q: Do you offer payment plans?
Absolutely! I automatically split my session fees into three payments scheduled for when you book, the halfway point before your shoot, and the week before your session. However, your payment schedule / number of payments can be customized to whatever works best for you!
