Kicking off the Class of 2026, I had Mackenzie from Assumption High School here in Louisville! Mackenzie, her mom, and I had a planning session a couple weeks before her shoot which is something I do before all of my Senior photoshoots to ensure that my Seniors are fully prepared for their big day! After Mackenzie started telling me about her vision for her photos, I knew Beckley Creek Park would be the perfect backdrop. Despite getting a surprise heat wave the day of the shoot, Mackenzie’s energy never faded and her photos are gorgeous!

Senior Session At Beckley Creek Park

Beckley Creek Park is one of Louisville’s most stunning locations and perfect for high school Senior portraits. From the rustic barns to the beautiful grass fields and hidden creek, this location offers a dynamic mix of backdrops.

We kicked things off in the shade of the barn, right at the beginning of golden hour! One of Mackenzie’s outfits was a white mini dress that she paired with her cowboy boots which ended up working perfectly at this spot of the park! After getting a few different shots with the barn walls and surrounding fences and greenery, we opted for an outfit change and moved on to a different spot of the park. This time, we focused more on greenery and the rock wall before heading off to the creek. For this part of the session, Mackenzie wore a cute summery top with jeans and actually opted to go barefoot which I think really played into the carefree, natural, summer vibe that Mackenzie wanted! We ended the session with the last bit of golden hour and the beginnings of blue hour in the creek, where Mackenzie got to splash around and throw some water at me and my camera (all for the photos of course haha!) We were very sweaty at this point (thanks to the unannounced heat wave), so this was the perfect way to end the photoshoot and cool off.

Even just opting for one location and two outfits, I think we achieved the simplicity that Mackenzie wanted all while giving her lots of variety in her photos. We had so much fun, and I love the way her images came out!
